Manager, Hotel and Packaging Product Marketing is responsible for strategic placement of Travelocity.com hotel and packaging products in the marketplace. Manages all stages of the product lifecycle and coordinates closely with Sabre / Travelocity Product Development, Global Product Marketing, Partner Marketing and Design on prioritizing, developing, implementing and maintaining Travelocity.com accommodations offerings. Builds marketing and business plans for product enhancements that include analysis of compatibility with current product lines, long range growth potential, customer needs, industry growth and structure, pricing, and competitive positioning. Defines and drives all technology requirements for the expanding merchant hotel platform across Hotel Only, Packaging and Lastminute Packages. Works with our key strategic hotel partners to enable a direct connection to Travelocity's merchant database. Builds and maintains Travelocity's strategy for growing hotel conversion ratios and revenue per customer.
Responsibilities include:
* Managing team of 3 product marketing resources.
* Owning Travelocity hotel and packaging functionality across product lines within Travelocity.
* Monitoring overall performance of hotel product/technology and suggesting/implementing strategies to improve performance.
* Owning product front end design/user interface and working with global hotels on North America requirements
* Analyzing the external marketplace, partner needs and competitor offerings to determine the right feature set for new products developed. Ensure product vision and requirements are defined globally, recognizing synergies across multiple initiatives
* Owning the communication and completion of Travelocity's needs in design of (but not creation of) product content (hotel descriptions, reviews, photos, maps) and monitoring quality of content, including the eHotels database (universal database designed to share hotel information across Sabre product lines) functionality.
* Defining product enhancements, with coordination and input from several stakeholders, and communicating them for Product Development action (MRDs)
* Analyzing the impact of proposed development projects and making trade-off decisions based on this analysis, then performing follow up analysis post-implementation
* Researching the current competitive environment and trends in the industry.
* Identifying strengths and weaknesses of the Travelocity.com hotel product as compared to competitors' offerings and evaluating and proposing the strategic and tactical steps to address weaknesses / exploit strengths
* Developing an understanding of customer issues and needs and creating associated action plans.
* Striking the correct balance between the needs of our consumers, suppliers and Travelocity to achieve maximum sustainable profitability of the product.
* Primary owner of the Hotel and Packaging team relationship with the Sales & Customer Care department.
Qualifications
EDUCATION: Bachelor degree or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum 8 years related experience. 5 years prior management experience. Advanced computer software skills. Excellent communication skills, written and verbal; ability to handle multiple projects. Ability to delegate work and provide leadership.
MINIMUM YEARS OF EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
5+ years of experience in Internet travel product management. Hotel industry or agency background preferred.
