Overall Responsibilities:
This Transportation Sourcing-Procurement/Contracts Manager position located at the corporate offices in Richardson,TX, will be responsible to develop and negotiate North American freight rates for inbound and outbound materials and products in support of organization’s strategic objectives.
Will research, develop and implement policies and procedures covering rate negotiation and purchase of transportation, freight bill auditing, overcharge claims and fleet management.
Will identify and analyze transportation costs, mode capacity, service levels and makes recommendations to improve the effectiveness of transportation programs.
Other essential duties include, but are not limited to:
Prepare requests for bids, evaluates proposals, drafts contracts, conducts legal review and executes final contracts.
Conduct cost studies to develop negotiating leverage, evaluates alternatives and reduces costs.
Monitors industry and regulatory trends.
Maintains databases and information on freight rates and costs.
Administers contracts.
Requirements
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or Logistics required.
At least 5-10 years of Logistics / Transportation negotiation and prior Logistics/Transportation experience
Experience in contract/vendor relationships, purchasing/sourcing, supplier management,
Must also have the following demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Proficient computer skills; especially use of SAP, R3, and MS office systems
Knowledge of transportation management systems, Manhattan a plus
Strong analytical capabilities
Strong negotiation skills
Leadership Traits:
Has a team orientation. Prior project experience a plus
Logical and creative thinker
Demonstrates good interpersonal skills, achieving results across organizational boundaries
