LEGAL COUNSEL
Location: Novation, - Irving, TX
This position will report to Novation's Assistant General Counsel. Novation is currently seeking an attorney with 3 to 10 years of law firm or large corporate departmental legal experience to provide efficient service to a broad array of internal clients in a collegial fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in information technology and intellectual property matters, and in one or more of the following areas: litigation, compliance, corporate governance and/or audit.
Responsibilities:
• Provide advice and counseling in technology and intellectual property matters, including technology licensing, technology maintenance and services, technology development/customization, and data privacy.
• Assist in the following areas: litigation management, compliance and corporate governance.
• Conduct various legal issues training classes for Novation employees
• Perform general corporate counsel functions such as advising client departments on a variety of legal issues.
• Respond to various vendor and member issues
Requirements
• Juris Doctorate JD Degree from an accredited law school and admission to the bar from at least one state.
• 3 to 10 years of law firm or large corporate departmental legal experience.
• Information technology and/or intellectual property experience is mandatory.
• Litigation, compliance, corporate governance, audit and/or health care experience is helpful, but not mandatory.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, and acute attention to detail.
• Diplomacy, flexibility, and the ability to successfully interact with employees at all levels of the company, members and vendors.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment, and to work with and maintain confidential and sensitive information.
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, and skill in managing ambiguous situations and issues.
• Proven ability to take a proactive long-term view of business goals and objectives in order to achieve strategic business results.
• Enthusiasm and self-starter qualities, and ability to manage responsibilities with an appropriate sense of urgency the ability to function effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
