Position Summary
Basic Function:
Under the direction of the Corporate Human Resource Director, responsible for corporate retention, employee relations, career pathing, performance management, and project management. Also, will support and consult on compensation and benefits issues, consult on and gain compliance with all policy and procedures, and any other special HR initiatives for client areas.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
* Associate Relations:
Assist client management with resolving associate relations issues in a fair and equitable manner. Serve as a sounding board for specified department associates’ concerns, issues and questions. Ensure all Benefits programs are well explained to associates and are being administered properly. Ensure associates understand Michaels’ Leave of Absence process.
* Corporate Retention:
Assess retention trends to develop effective strategies and plans for client management & departments for identifying, attracting and retaining associates. Conduct exit interview of departing associates. Compile and provide feedback from these sessions to department leaders along with recommendations for improvement. Corporate Human Resources Policy and Procedure: Assist with the development, maintenance and communication of employee handbook(s) and gain compliance with all HR policy and procedures.
* Corporate Career Progression and Succession Planning:
Assist with the development, implementation and communication of better career pathing for each department. Ensure effective departmental succession, development and career pathing plans are implemented based on performance appraisals and testing.
* Corporate Performance Management:
Ensure excellent performance improvement by monitoring the performance appraisal process and supporting managers with develop plans. Partner with Compensation to review, recommend approval, and process associates recommended for promotion by department leaders.
* Corporate Training:
Assist in identifying client training and development needs. Work with Corporate Human Resource Director and Training department to rollout and administer training. Develop and maintain updated Supervisor Manual. Develop, maintain and facilitate New Michaels’ Supervisor training program.
* New Associate Orientation:
Facilitation of New Associate Orientation and New Hire paperwork process. Partner with Staffing Representatives to ensure Michaels is utilizing best practices for New Hire and Orientation processes. Manage Personnel Announcement process for all associates.
Requirements
Job Requirements:
* • Five plus years experience in Human Resources environment.
* • Working knowledge of human resource policies and procedures such as employee relations, compensation, benefits and employment laws.

* • Must have strong organizational skills, project management skills and interpersonal effectiveness.
*
* • Strong leadership skills, oral and written communications skills, presentation skills, and problem solving skills.
*
* • Working knowledge of personal computers and related software applications (Microsoft Office preferred)
Educational Requirements:
* • Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis in Human Resources or related field.
