POSITION SUMMARY
Management of the human resource function including human resource policies and procedures, benefits, safety, compensation, training and development, employee relations, payroll and communications. Provide direction and assistance in a staff capacity to the various departments and executives in implementing personnel and labor relations responsibilities.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/MAJOR DUTIES
Directs the execution of the company’s human resource and labor relations policies, procedures, and programs.
Provides general supervision for company-wide activities of personnel administration, wage and salary administration, management training and development, safety, benefits administration, employee communications, employee activities, staffing, legal compliance and labor relations.
1. Responsible for the administration of the total preemployment process including the recruitment, interviewing, investigating and screening of all applicants. Refers qualified applicants to appropriate departments. Administers orientation for those hired. Assist with prospective distributor orientation.
2. Develops and administers necessary in-house training and development programs. Oversees all company training/development programs.
3. Advises Managers, Department Heads, and Supervisors in the interpretation and application of human resource and labor relations policies and programs, labor contracts and legislation. Assist departments with attendance/disciplinary issues.
4. Directs and maintains effective communications programs with all departments and employees to promote and sustain a high level of employee morale (e.g., employee involvement program, service awards). Listens to grievances from all employees and counsels them on problems of work, family, health, etc. Provides appropriate referrals.
5. Responsible for maintaining all accident records, recovery of losses and all safety related activities. Assists departments with OSHA compliance.
6. Maintains compliance with all local, state and federal laws.
7. Develops and disseminates the company affirmative action program.
8. Manages employee benefits programs, including the credit league, in the most cost-effective manner and promotes employee understanding of each benefit area. Handle benefits issues appropriately.
9. Maintains all human resource files and salary records for employees and temporary labor, both electronically and in files. Administers wage and salary policies and the performance appraisal process for employees. Responsible for transmission of employee and distributor payroll.
10. Conducts wage and benefit surveys to determine company’s competitive position in labor market.
11. Manages unemployment compensation claims.
12. Keeps corporate and legal counsel informed on all pending human resource and labor matters, and lends necessary assistance.
13. Oversees department head physical program.
14. Analyzes the effect of human resource and labor relations policies, practices and programs. Recommend changes as needed.
15. Develops and maintains records concerning plant costs influenced by the human resource department (e.g. safety record, turnover, absenteeism) and the contribution of the human resource department to profit goals.
16. Responsible for ongoing professional development of the Human Resources Department.
17. Maintains cleanliness of work area.
18. Ensures compliance with all company policies and procedures (EEO, Sexual Harassment, Safety, Sarbanes Oxley, etc.).
19. Performance of other duties which are deemed by management to be an integral part of the job, including but not limited to fulfillment of work schedules, adherence to attendance policies, and other applicable operating rules, policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/REQUIREMENTS

DESIRED EXPERIENCE
Ability to represent the Human Resource Department to various levels of management and employees in all types of personnel situations. Must have the ability to operate with a very high degree of freedom within the frame work of recommended Corporate Policies.
DESIRED EDUCATION
BA/BS in Human Resources, Business or related discipline required. Relevant Master's degree and PHR/SPHR certification preferred.
