The Compensation Manager will monitor the effectiveness of existing executive and broad-based compensation programs, policies, guidelines and procedures, which are cost effective and consistent with compensation trends and corporate objectives. This individual will report directly to the VP, Compensation, Benefits & HR Systems.
Primary Responsibilities of this position will entail the following:
Provide analysis and recommendations on strategy relative to compensation programs.
Provide consultation to management in conjunction with HR colleagues regarding market trends, job classifications, and application of compensation programs, policies, and guidelines.
Conduct job evaluations; work with HR and management to understand and define the role; conduct job analysis interviews with various department leaders to create accurate job descriptions.
Analyze survey data during the annual compensation structure update process to identify issues and determine actions.
Evaluate effectiveness of current structures and determine plan modifications necessary to incent behavior in support of strategic objectives.
Provide on-going consulting support to HR business partners and recruiters on promotions, adjustments, and new hire offers.
Assume responsibility for the design, modeling and implementation of incentive plans to align with the business initiatives.
Educate HR team and the business units on compensation programs and policies, including designing and enhancing new and existing communications and training materials.
Coordinate implementation of key programs.
Provide advice and guidance on pay decisions and policies including the design of creative solutions to specific compensation-related programs.
Develop techniques for compiling, preparing and presenting data.
Supervise the participation in and conduct salary surveys to ensure compensation objectives are achieved.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local compensation laws and regulations.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree; MBA preferred but not required
CCP certification preferred but not required
5+ years compensation management experience with demonstrated experience in program design and salary administration
At least 3 years same experience in a public company.
Possess business aptitude, thorough knowledge of compensation principles and practices, advanced use of spreadsheets and word processing.
Specific applied knowledge in executive compensation program administration and design in a public environment.
Strong quantitative, analytical and problem solving skills a must.
Strategic thinking ability with strong financial acumen.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills required.
Strong attention to detail.
Strong customer service skills.
Ability to lead/ manage complex projects.
Former compensation consulting background preferred.
Compliance experience a plus.
Fluency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
