Seeking: Consummate person-about-town for a part-time freelance position as Citysearch's Dallas local City Editor/Community Cruise Director. Must possess a passion for writing, socializing, eating, shopping, discovering new talent, barstools and parties. Though not necessarily in that order. In short: We need a good-natured, force-of-nature for the kind of work your parents said you’d never actually find.
You Are:
• Born to write
• A foodie, club-crawler, shopaholic, media junkie
• Beyond socially-connected (both online and off)
• Able to juggle, multi-task and handle logistical nightmares with aplomb
• The first to arrive, the last to leave and always dressed for the occasion
• Pathologically organized
• God’s gift to grammar
You Will:
• Write reviews, create lists and edit coverage of Dallas's most noteworthy businesses, services and events
• Curate the weekly “Four Day Weekend” newsletter
• Build and motivate a community of Dallas’s most interesting voices
• Blog and Twitter about local deals and events
• Market Citysearch to local businesses and media outlets
• Work with a team of experienced local editors across the country
You Need:
• An obsessive passion for Dallas and all it has to offer
• Local media and blogger contacts
• Superb communication skills
• An outgoing personality and love of networking
• Experience with social media and viral marketing
• Excellent writing chops including -- but not limited to -- insightful prose, grammatically bullet-proof copy, witty headlines, an original voice and critical insight
• A finger on the pulse of local trends and tastes
• Media savvy
• A positive, professional attitude and a strong sense of editorial integrity
• Self-discipline, self-motivation and the ability to work independently
• An attention to detail and a commitment to deadlines
• A B.A. or equivalent in Journalism, Communications, English, Marketing or related field
• 2-3 years experience working in marketing/public relations or on an editorial staff
• Strong computer skills and knowledge of basic HTML
• A sense of humor and intense desire to live your job
