Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

Responsible for preparing engineering schematics and ensuring compliance with electrical standards including Underwriting Laboratory (UL) and Canadian Standards Association (CSA) for power flow controls in a commercial and industrial manufacturing environment in the US and Canada. Manage a professional staff of engineers and interface with sales and technical divisions and customers to ensure adherence to customer requirements and technical standards. Perform integration of electrical controls for WL Circuit breaker within the project's document/ drawing package and incorporate specific electrical schematics pertaining to Low voltage switchgear products as per UL requirements to enable easier manufacturing and assembly. Based on specific customer specifications, develop control schematics using Simatic S7-200 PLCs and TP170 HMIs and also utilize the capabilities of Ethernet / modbus communication into the WL Schematics / SCADA integration.   

Education, Knowledge and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (or foreign degree equivalent) and five years of experience in the job offered or five years of experience in an alternate occupation.  Experience to include the integration of electrical controls and schematics within a low-voltage switchgear manufacturing environment; interfacing with customers to ensure compliance with technical specifications and electrical control standards including the  Canadian Standards Association (CSA) and Underwriting Laboratory (UL) standards. Design and implementation of complex electrical control schematics using SIMATIC Series PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and HMI (Human Machine Interfaces) and working knowledge on communication protocols using SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition)/Ethernet/Modbus.   

Direction of Others:

Typically manages non-exempt administrative or technical employees, and/or lower level exempt employees.   

Key Working Relationships:

Primarily intra-organizational contacts and external contacts.
