Job Description Report to the Assistant Director of Undergraduate Advising; advise Natural Sciences and Mathematics undergraduate students about the development of educational plan options and resources available; build effective working relationships with students through positive and professional interpersonal communication; work closely with other advisors, faculty, and staff to provide timely information on course/degree options and university polices; make appropriate referrals; perform related duties as required, including recruitment and persistence efforts, some of which involves occasional evening and weekend hours; audit degree plans; coordinate advising efforts within the school.
Minimum Qualifications Doctorate degree in counseling or related field & 2 yrs exp working with college students or adolescents in an academic counseling capacity; Master's degree & 5 yrs exp as described above; Bachelor's degree & 7 yrs exp as described above.
Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in counseling, student development or related field & 5 yrs exp working with college students or adolescents in an academic counseling capacity.
Minimum Responsibilities Advise students (undergraduate & post-baccalaureate); evaluate transcript or student records; attend appropriate professional development conferences; other duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities Staying late one or two nights a month. Rare weekends could be necessary. Instruct freshman year course.
