Job Description
We are seeking a senior project manager to lead projects that help our clients ensure they are in compliance with NERC Reliability and Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Standards. You will support clients by conducting gap assessments and audit readiness assessments. You will communicate with power generator operators, transmission operators, load serving entities, and other types of clients as required. You will manage consulting teams consisting of internal consultants and subcontractors who will maintain relationships with clients, participate in industry forums, coordinate client change management initiatives, and support growth through business development efforts. You will interact with Nexant’s Software & Information Services business unit to facilitate the growth of software offerings across business lines and coordinate with Nexant’s CIP practice and complete risk based assessments for clients.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support growth of Nexant’s NERC CIP compliance practice
- Assist clients in the design and implementation of automated systems, procedures, and methods to facilitate NERC CIP compliance
- Assist in the performance of risk assessments, audits, and system reviews. Use a combination of automated tools, manual methods, and interviewing techniques to gather the information necessary to report on security risks. Author written reports summarizing findings and recommendations
- Prepare and conduct presentations for regulatory compliance projects, proposals and initiatives as needed
Job Qualifications
Key Skills
· Minimum 15 years of electric utility, IPP, and/or transmission system coordination experience
· Detailed knowledge of NERC Reliability Standards
· Ability to work independently towards successful implementation of broad projects and goals
· Possess comprehensive knowledge of transmission analysis techniques, decision criteria for transmission planning and expansion, FERC and state policies and policymaking processes, regional transmission rules, procedures & processes, transmission tariff issues: pricing, service options and contracts, transmission operation and maintenance, and transmission reliability and risk analysis techniques
Desired Skills
· Superb interpersonal skills, excellent computer skills, willingness to travel as needed
· Experience with project management, change management, energy sector regulatory compliance is highly desired
· Ability to develop business processes to support and sustain compliance and enforcement of security policies
· Ability to incorporate safety, customer service and increased productivity to continually improve compliance and cyber-security processes
· Ability to assist in the development and implementation of security awareness training and education programs
· Willingness to undertake and complete special projects or assignments as requested, and participate in department and/or cross-functional teams to complete special projects or assignments as requested
Experience and Education
- Significant experience with electric power industry SCADA and EMS systems with a focus on security of those systems
- Experience in NERC CIP Compliance projects for multiple electric power companies
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead onsite project teams in support of clients
- Strong computer skills in office applications and network security
- Master's level graduate education in engineering, mathematics, or physical science
