Job Description
Direct Responsibilities: Responsible for business development and operational management of small projects and Operations & Maintenance contracts in the Airport, Parcel, or Distribution Industries. Candidate must have proven experience in developing and managing groups of people and products that generate new business and have a recurring revenue stream within one or more of these areas. Candidate will have profit and loss responsibility and must demonstrate proven success.
Develops and guides the overall operation of a small business segment/unit, including creating and implementing the business plans. Guides operational activities on an ongoing daily basis, exercising tight cost control and maximizing price realization in the market place to influence profits. Guides projects within the business, including project organization, definition, planning, implementation and control. Develops marketing programs, channel and pricing strategies to ensure the profit growth and expansion of business. Develops new products within the business that are innovative and profitable, that meet acceptable standards for manufacturability, quality, and on time delivery.
Key Responsibilities: Successfully defines work flows, jobs, and reporting relationships to obtain optimum effectiveness. Area of responsibility is primarily tactical/operational in nature, with limited strategic impact. Develops and manages departmental budgets and/or business plans for a small to mid-size department or business unit. Typical responsibility for innovation is to continuously enhance or improve existing policies, products, and methods. Identifies resource needs and develops justification. Troubleshoots and resolves very complex problems. Recommends/ determines organizational structures and supervisory relationships for own segment of company. Responsible for overall success of function or project.
Education: Typically Bachelors Degree or advanced degree
Knowledge and Experience: Demonstrates and applies advanced knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures for area managed and basic knowledge of other areas in the company and how they interact. Demonstrates understanding and application of management approaches for work direction, motivation, performance management, and disciplinary action. Typically 8+ years of successful experience in a directly related field and successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above.
Direction of Others: Typically manages multiple levels of exempt employees and/or supervisors.
Key Working Relationships: Frequent inter-organizational and external contacts.
