Overview:

The Revenue Recognition Accountant will be responsible for reading and interpreting contracts to determine proper accounting treatment with regards to revenue recognition. The Revenue Recognition Accountant will provide support to the Finance Team by establishing goals and objectives that support company goals & objectives for both ESA and Fort Worth.

Responsibilities:

Read and interpret contracts to determine proper accounting treatment:

• Ensure that the recognition of revenue and resultant reporting adheres to both regulatory requirements as well as current company practice and/or procedure.
• Responsible for revenue recognition write-ups on all programs.
• Process monthly entries for advance payments, unbilled revenue, and other revenue recognition related accounts.
• Complete monthly account reconciliation for revenue recognition related accounts.
• Provide technical support to both Financial and Inter-Organizational functional management.
• Provide adherence to technical and regulatory information requests and submittals.
• Create and maintain the descriptive analysis of current revenue recognition practices.
• Adhere to internal ethics/procedures and external regulations and laws.
• Work under the general supervision of the Site Financial Controller.
• Set functional performance standards and establish metrics.
• Serve as the subject matter expert for revenue recognition.

Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of SOP 81-1, SAB104, FTB 90-1, EITF 00-21 and GAAP accounting.
• Bachlors Degree in Accounting
• In-depth knowledge of Accounting Regulations applicable to functional area, including keeping current regarding all SOX requirements.
• Ability to understand complex government contracts and determine the applicable revenue recognition rules.
• Overall mind set of continuous improvement.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment in determining estimates and amounts allowable for revenue recognition.
• Experience in presenting financial information to senior management.
• Skilled in using financial data systems and specific software applications as required.
• Excellent verbal and written presentation skills.
